'Cause with an area this small, sometimes when you're working it's kinda hard to get it right, because this spot is a bit small. You didn't finish painting it Reduce both sides a bit. Reduce both sides. A little less Also watch the volume. If this middle area is bright these blacks still aren't lit up, right? See, visually the middle doesn't feel lit. The whole thing should be a bit brighter The whole thing needs to be brighter than the sides. That volume has to be built up. Like I laid down a dark-to-light gradient at the start, right? That gradient has to come first That's the base. Then you paint the details on top. Otherwise, when you're done, it's all flat and murky, like a flat painting. It won't read as a 3D piece of wood or a 3D structure Okay? Got it? Then you build your details on top of that. Now, uh Right now there's stuff on top I can't tell apart Like, which one is a groove and which is raised? It's confusing. Like this ridge here Right, it's bright overall, right? The blacks light up too Yeah, we covered that — the fish-path even felt, right? But what I mean is, like this line — why do I think it's a groove? Because there's a bright edge here, see? There's a bright edge here too. So this edge, I think, should be a groove. Okay This one I think is raised. It's a recessed part... and this is raised here. I can only guess, right?
